About
Alessandro Montalbano is an Italian-born painter and sculptor whose work is deeply rooted in the forces of nature, mythology and the timeless relationship between humans and animals. Born at the foot of Mount Etna in Sicily and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, his artistic language carries the intensity of earth, fire and movement.
Whether working in bronze, steel, painting or drawing, Montalbano creates figures charged with tension, rhythm and vitality. Horses, bulls, angels and animal forms become more than subjects: they are metaphors for human strength, fragility, resistance and the capacity to overcome the trials of existence.
Living in the Charolais countryside for more than a decade, Montalbano found a renewed source of inspiration in the animal world surrounding him. Bulls and horses, in particular, appear as powerful symbols of earthly energy, freedom and instinct. Through dynamic torsions, expressive surfaces and a strong sculptural presence, he transforms the coldness of metal into living, almost breathing forms.
His work has been exhibited internationally since the 1980s, including in France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Monaco, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. In 1994, he received the Prix Fondation Princesse Grace in Monaco, invited by César, and his monumental sculpture is part of the open-air museum at Les Terrasses de Fontvieille in the Principality of Monaco.
At MPC Gallery, Alessandro Montalbano’s work enters into dialogue with our vision of art as a living force: rooted in matter, driven by instinct and connected to the deeper pulse of nature.
