Daisy Seilern — Beauty in What We Discard

Daisy Seilern is a British artist and photographer whose work moves between portraiture, wildlife photography and material transformation. At the heart of her practice lies a fascination with beauty, identity, nature and the way we assign value to what surrounds us.

In her Wild Life series, lions, elephants and other animals are portrayed with an almost human intensity. Rather than simply documenting wildlife, Seilern captures character, strength and vulnerability, turning each image into a powerful portrait of the natural world.

Her Discarded Queens series takes this exploration in another direction. Paper, plastics, packaging, textiles and other discarded materials are transformed into elaborate garments and sculptural compositions. What was once considered waste becomes precious, theatrical and monumental.

Across both series, Seilern invites us to look again: at what we discard, at what we risk losing and at the beauty we too often take for granted.
